Jennifer Rourke is an advocate for those who are often left behind. She is a working mother of four who is involved in her community and the local public schools. As a wife of a former police officer and veteran, Jennifer understands the sacrifice and has first-hand experience training law enforcement in de-escalation procedures. As a former small business owner, she understands the difficulty of running a small business. Jennifer is an independent thinker who has years of experience advocating for her neighbors and has faced the consequences of our broken government. It's time to build a government and an economy that works for the many, not the few.

Education - Raise the bar for quality education for every student from every zip code by passing a state constitutional amendment.

  • Start a state fund for school maintenance so buildings last and stay safe

  • Expand Career & Technical Education programs in public schools and colleges

  • Set a statewide public teacher minimum salary of $60k tied to inflation

  • Make a quality public school education a constitutional right

  • Offset property tax burdens with state funds for quality education in all zip codes

Healthcare - Enact a Medicare-For-All style healthcare program to lower costs for individuals, small businesses, and municipalities.

  • Save residents ~$4k per year on healthcare expenses

  • Close the Medicare donut hole and cover long-term care

  • Provide complete vision, mental health, and dental coverage

  • Eliminate out-of-pocket costs, prior authorizations, and networks

  • Lower cost of health benefits for small business, municipalities, and the state

Small Business - Help local businesses compete in the current market and make RI small business friendly.

  • Fight against highway tolls to mitigate inflation and supply-chain cost increases

  • ​Help small employers compete in the job market by lowering health benefit costs

  • Stabilize the workforce economy and create middle-class careers with benefits

  • Eliminate the corporate minimum tax and cut taxes in half for small businesses

  • Invigorate the economy with green technology, union jobs, and green energy

Local Issues:

-Protect our natural resources  by keeping Conimicut Beach clean and protecting our local environment including Buckeye Brook, Posnegansett PondWarwick Pond, and Sand Pond.

 

-Support public infrastructure by improving sewers, fixing our roads, and making neighborhoods safer for our kids.

-Fight energy rate hikes and repeal the profit increase to reduce profits from 10% down to the previous 6% cap as well as enact Percentage of Income Payment Plans (PIPP).

-Hold the airport accountable for its noise pollution and air pollution by commissioning robust independent studies and requiring extensive impact statements on future considerations.

-Protect the right to vote by repealing extreme voter suppression and identification laws.

Housing - Build 10,000 units of affordable, green housing for low-income seniors, the disabled, families, and recent grads.

  • Build new affordable housing for seniors and the disabled to live and retire in RI

  • Expand the housing stock with 10,000 new units of green housing

  • Build lower-cost units for families and recent grads to stay, live, and work in RI

  • Stabilize energy costs, reliability, and independence with green construction

  • Create long-term union careers in green energy and green home building

Taxes and Retirement - Create a fairer tax system for all by lowering tax burdens on small businesses and repealing tax cuts on the rich.

  • Support Social Security income tax exemptions for the disabled and veterans

  • Restore pensions by increasing state funding to 80% and tie COLAs to inflation

  • Provide funding to enhance the Pilgrim Senior Center

  • Repeal the tax cuts on the wealthiest and enact a progressive corporate tax system

  • Cut taxes in half for small businesses and remove the corporate minimum tax

Reproductive Justice - Protect the right to choose and expand access to family planning.

  • Pass the EACA to repeal state health insurance restrictions on â…“ of the state

  • Protect the right to choose in Rhode Island after Roe v. Wade

  • Support access to family planning services for all incomes and areas

  • Prioritizing maternal health and fighting disparities in healthcare outcomes

Public Safety - Invest in and support first responders for all crisis situations.

  • Invest in specialized training for first responders and law enforcement

  • Supplement crisis situations with trained mental health professionals

  • Establish County Veterans Service Officers (CVSOs) so every county has an officer

  • Enhance rehabilitation standards for substance use disorders and non-violent crimes

  • Decriminalize substance use disorders and fairer sentences for non-violent crimes
